Tonight is date night for Jim and I and I'm eating ice cream and sipping pinot noir right now....gluttonous, I know:)
We are getting ready to watch a movie (date night in). I always pick the worst movies to rent and then we're disappointed. Maybe we're picky, we think a lot of movies suck. So...I have a question for all of you.
What movies would you recommend renting? I'm specifically tagging Taryn, Semi-Desperate Housewife, Tara, Laura, Ang CB, and Courtney to answer this...since I know all of you check out our blog at least once/week. Any other closet readers, please answer as well. If you have your own blog, you can post there, or you can leave a comment here.
Tonight, based on a recommendation, we rented 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.' I hope it doesn't suck, I'll let you know tomorrow.
A few of our favorites date night movies (in case anyone else chronically rents movies that suck) are:
Beautiful Girls
Goodwill Hunting
Jerry McGuire
Almost Famous
As Good as it Gets
Garden State
Cinderella Man
The Family Man
The Notebook
Saint Elmo's Fire (oldie but goodie)
I can't wait to hear your recommendations for movies that don't suck:)
In honor of date night, here we are back when date night did not consist of renting a movie, eating ice-cream, and drinking wine....

I have to get back to you on movies to rent. but I (and Tim especailly really liked Eternal Sunshine) liked that movie. Let me know what you thought. Our netflix has been the same movie for months, we have to end it b/c w don't use it. Tim and I could use a date night, maybe Jim should suggest that to him.

Unfortunately, I haven't had time for movies lately.. most of my faves would probably put a damper on your date night. I know you guys go for the "feel good" type and I am more of a thriller/tragedy type. I always liked Pearl Harbor, used to have it but it disappeared. Legends of the Fall is a good one. Here on Earth (love the soundtrack). Another good one was What Dreams May Come- not sure if you borrowed that one already. There is always Sweet Home Alabama and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Hope Floats is one of my faves.. (poor Jim.. most of these are chick flicks). You have probably seen most of these but it's the best I could do on short notice. Luv ya!-Ang CB
Chick flicks are ok for date night:)
We liked 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'...I'm not putting it on my favorites list but it was good. It was kind of 'out there' at times and different than I expected, but we were entertained, it's worth renting for sure but I don't think I would call it a romantic comedy.
ACB - We borrowed 'What Dreams May Come,' from you guys but never watched it...we borrowed a few movies that night and decided to watch 'A Perfect Murder,' which was very good.
I haven't seen 'Hope Floats,' and I'm not sure about 'Here on Earth,' I did read the book though.
thanks for the recommendations!
